With the holidays right around the corner, we wanted to take the opportunity to remind you to take advantage of the benefits available to you from your dental insurance, health savings, or FSA plan before the end of the year. Most annual dental insurance benefits expire on December 31st. Many dental insurance plans cover two dental preventive checkups each year. If you have not had the chance to use your checkup benefits this year, it is time to make an appointment.
What Happens to My FSA Benefits if I Don’t Use Them?
If you contribute to your employer’s flexible spending account (FSA), you may only have until December 31st to access those funds. Whatever money is not used by the FSA expiration date are lost. It’s a good idea to check your FSA balance and expiration date to make sure that you do not lose the money you have already invested.
If you are in need of dental restorative work like fillings or a crown, it is sometimes possible to provide dental treatment in phases so that you can take advantage of both your 2013 and 2014 benefits by scheduling at the end of this year and the beginning of next year. This depends on the treatment needed, but may be a possibility to consider to maximize your benefits.
If you have any questions about your dental insurance benefits or you would like to make an appointment, please call 636-561-5445 and Joy will be happy to answer any questions you have. Our O’Fallon dental office gets busy toward the end of the year so call now to secure a convenient appointment time.
